Which Instructor

Get the right instructor.

(or waste loadsa money!)

Well, how do you choose the right driving instructor - and does it matter anyway? Can you afford to waste your money? Can you tell from one advertisement or website to the other what an instructor is really like? Is one going to be better than another because he teaches in a new Mini Cooper or a BMW? Surely, one instructor is much the same as another?

The link at the top might explain a lot and help you to make your choice.

Lots of people drive, and those that can, think it’s easy. Lots of people are not convinced that professional tuition is worth paying for anyway. After all, how hard can it be to teach someone to drive?

I have heard of instructors who don't even know where they are going and end up directing pupils down dead-ends.If an instructor does not carry out the basics, what hope is there of their pupils being given first-rate professional tuition on the complex stuff?

We have all heard of instructors who shout at pupils, and those who stop to do errands during lessons. For pupils this sort of thing is not just a waste of time, but a waste of their hard-earned money. So for lessons like this it isn’t worth paying for!

But can you rely on friends and family?

The requirements of the Driving Test have now become so complex, that someone who passed their test only a short time ago will not be aware of the current situation. And changes are taking place much more frequently - almost month by month.

Sometimes the intended “Couple of lessons to sort him out for his test.” can develop into some sort of nightmare for a pupil, who has been taught a load of bad habits. The couple of lessons would have been better at the start to point him in the right direction in the first place.

Far too many learners make their choice of instructor based on only two things.

1. How much does a lesson cost?

And

2.Does the car have any “street cred”?

If that’s all that you think about, you might be in for a very unhappy experience.

There are those who think that the driver training industry is not particularly well regulated and there are things that some driving schools would prefer that you didn’t know about.

So go to the link at the top and learn a thing or two before you choose how you or your child will learn to drive.

There are all sorts of pupils, and all sorts of instructors. The trick is to get the one that's right for you.
